127: “That’s part of my calling as an artist; going with the flow of how the world changes through storytelling.” Broadway performing, life pivots, & choosing curiosity over shame with Jesca Prudencio

From sharing her director’s process as “the strategic artist” to working through a recent divorce, Jesca Prudencio implores us all to lead life with curiosity.
“I always start with a question.”
Raised by a mom & dad who supported her dreams of being in the performing arts from a young age, Jesca learned to follow her heart in order to turn those dreams into her reality. She started her career at age 5, performing Filipino cultural dances for community events. She would later grow up to travel the world to create her own media, teach & become an inspiration to her student artists. In 2021, she was named Woman To Watch on Broadway by the Broadway Woman’s Fund. *congratulatory snaps!*
Reflecting back on how she got to where she is today, she outlines how she’s learned to be patient with herself, allowing herself the time needed to contextualize her circumstances. She also emphasizes the power of community, and how in her darkest moments, they were the ones to carry her back into the light.
