Q&A with Michele, A Mom Rewriting the Rules

Q: Who did you write your letter to, and why?

Michele:

I wrote this letter to my children. As a second-generation Filipina American, Iโ€™ve inherited a lot of silence--especially when it comes to expressing emotions. I grew up with the message that speaking up, especially to elders, was seen as disrespectful. Now, as a mom, I want to give my kids what I didnโ€™t have: emotional permission and safety.
